About the Foundation
Founded in 2015, the Dr. Emma J. Clark Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to expanding the physical and digital impact of
the Dr. Mattie McGlothen Library Museum through increased research and expanded programming. The Dr. Emma J. Clark Memorial Foundation, Inc., oversees the operation and programming of
the Dr. Mattie McGlothen Library Museum and helps to promote literacy and ongoing learning while keeping the memory and legacy of Dr. McGlothen alive. We purpose to help
strengthen individuals, families and local communities in Richmond, California and the greater Bay Area by:
- Creating dynamic, vibrant community hubs of high impact programs, services and activities designed to meet the specific needs of at-risk populations and to service
local residents.
- Educating youth and adults about successful strategies for achieving economic prosperity and personal wealth through entrepreneurial and employment training development.
- Addressing the evolving digital information needs of individuals, youth and family through increased access to technology.
- Collaborating with partners in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, including the regional and local philanthropic community, to create socio-cultural enrichment
opportunities for all children and families in Richmond, California and the greater Bay Area.
The Foundation, in partnership with the the Zambia International Mission, helps to support programs and initiatives that serves the underprivileged through relief efforts: developing communities
and providing economic empowerment through income-generating activities.
